This orange momma and her litter of six were struggling with stress in the shelter. The kittens were not gaining weight at the expected rate and mother was showing signs of stress. After bringing them home and giving them more space, all seven settled in quickly. Naranja is very gentle and affectionate with people. The kittens started using the litter box on their first day here, and they accepted a wet food/KMR mix eagerly (and sloppily). After a week here, Naranja has gained a little weight and has been nursing the kittens. The kittens are gaining weight well, and as of 10/29 range in weight from 666g for Pequeña to 824g for Burrito. Hollín and Tinta both had temporarily overtaken Burrito in the weight category, but he's back on top. Pequeña has been true to her name, but is gaining weight every day, and is happy and vigorous with the rest of them.
