Stonehill Fosters

This litter of three arrived without a mother. Their eyes were open and they were just about weaned. They were bottle fed for about 10 days. The were offered solid food slurry (canned kitten food mixed with a little water) on the first day but they did have trouble feeding themselves. They were also offered KMR by bottle until they stopped wanting it after a few more days. Slowly kibble was introduced. Water is mixed into the food as well as provided in a bowl. In addition to freely available food and water, they continued being offered a bottle with warm water to ensure they get enough fluids since they weaned quite young. They started being litter trained as soon as they began urinating without stimulation, and they quickly learned. There have been virtually no accidents outside the litter box. They all struggled with diarrhea and went through two rounds of medication before it eventually resolved. On July 19th, Dante tested positive for panleukopenia, a very contagious and deadly virus. It's unclear how they had all been testing negative and had been quarantined as a group since starting foster with me. One theory is that he picked it up during a checkup visit in the vet office on June 13th. In any case, Woolly and Kissy didn't get infected and continued to test negative. Dante had to stay at the vet for intensive care for the rest of his foster care, but he did pull through. Woolly and Kissy went in for adoption on August 3, and all three of them got adopted by forever families.
